The origins of Dark Magic can be traced back to the era of the gods. At that time, within the Tremere witch family, besides those who sought eternal life, there was a faction that desired even greater power.
But they did not set their sights on the Vampires; instead, they began to study the Power of Darkness.
The Power of Darkness originated from the God of Darkness, one of the three main gods. Unlike the Earth Mother or the Goddess of Light, who brought stability and beauty to the Sitatul Continent, the God of Darkness brought only war and death.
The Power of Darkness was everywhere, yet it seemed that only death could gather it.
The Tremere witches wanted to sense the Power of Darkness, so they turned their attention to the weak humans. Only war could bring about mass death. Over a dozen years, the Tremere witches orchestrated a war among the humans. The corpses and blood of hundreds of thousands of people allowed them to successfully touch the Power of Darkness.
But this man-made war incurred the displeasure of the Goddess of Light. Just as this faction of Tremere witches was rejoicing in their discovery of the Power of Darkness, they vanished from the Sitatul Continent without a sound.
However, this method of practice was passed down within the Tremere family.
All witches interested in the Power of Darkness would first use this method to make contact with and sense the Power of Darkness before they could practice Dark Magic.
And Eunice called it garbage because she didn’t need such a troublesome method. She was born with the ability to sense the Power of Darkness.
She was even creating her own Dark Magic.
“Only trash likes to do things this way.” Eunice crossed her arms. Facing the cold gazes of the other Anderson witches, she sneered, completely unafraid, and mocked, “A bunch of trash that gets discovered so easily, at that.”
She had long guessed that the God Race would sooner or later find out what the Anderson family was doing, and given the God Race’s character, they would certainly not approve.
The alliance, or whatever it was, was bound to crumble eventually. She just hadn’t expected Elder Molly and the others to be found out so quickly.
Eunice couldn’t care less about what happened to the Anderson family, but she couldn’t ignore Betty’s feelings. During their time in the Slade Sea Region, the smiles on Betty’s face had clearly become more frequent. This made Eunice even more furious that Elder Molly and the others had ruined everything.
Faced with Eunice’s mockery, Elder Molly let out a low laugh, but her eyes held not a trace of warmth. “You’re getting bolder and bolder, Eunice.”
Eunice lifted her head proudly, her tone flat. “Have I said anything wrong?”
Molly’s hand tightened on her staff, but before she could make another move, her wrist was suddenly grabbed. Elder Kana stared at her, frowning as she scolded, “Molly!”
Elder Molly met Kana’s gaze for a moment, then swept her eyes over the expressions of the other Garcia and Morgan witches before suddenly bursting into laughter. “What, are you no longer witches, but part of the God Race now?”
She shook off Kana’s hand and said coldly, “Why did we leave our territory? I see you’ve all forgotten.”
“Will the witch clans grow stronger by helping the God Race expand their influence?”
“Who was it that swore to rescue our captured kin from the vampires?” Molly turned her gaze to the Morgan family, her tone mocking. “I suppose the Morgan family has forgotten what they said.”
“After all, you can’t seem to think of anyone but the God Race now.”
Molly’s words made the Morgan witches, who had been filled with anger, stiffen. Their expressions turned ugly.
Faced with Elder Molly’s questioning, Betty couldn’t help but move closer to Eunice. The thought that for all the time they had spent in the Slade Sea Region, countless of their kin were still suffering at the hands of the Vampires filled Betty with guilt, and she lowered her head sadly.
Cynthia had intended to see how the witches would resolve their internal conflict, but seeing the Anderson family gain the upper hand after the argument, she shook her head slightly and took a few steps forward.
The Light Crystal in her hand flickered. Cynthia softly chanted a spell, and a scorching Light Fire condensed above her head, its dazzling brilliance more piercing than the sun.
No one had expected Cynthia to suddenly summon Light Fire. The expressions of the Anderson witches changed slightly, and they all raised their staves. The Garcia and Morgan witches froze for a moment, then unconsciously raised their staves as well, their feet moving instinctively toward the Anderson family.
They all knew of Cynthia’s power; no one dared to underestimate her Light Magic.
Witchcraft and Dark Magic had already formed before them, but to the witches’ surprise, the Light Fire above did not fall on them. Instead, it flew behind them.
That was where Selpa City was located.
The Vampires who had been watching the show sensed that something was wrong. They all activated their domains and turned to flee, but the Light Fire fell even faster. Only a few fourth-generation lords were lucky enough to escape just as the flames reached them.
But that luck didn’t last long. Werewolves who had been lying in ambush pounced out one after another, tearing them to shreds.
Cynthia stopped her chant. As if she hadn’t seen the Dark Magic and Witchcraft above her head, she curved her lips into a smile at Elder Molly and said softly, “Don’t be afraid. The God Race’s Light Magic will never be aimed at its allies.”
She paused after speaking, her smiling eyes devoid of any warmth. “But only if they are worthy allies.”
Elder Molly was silent for a moment before lowering her raised staff, staring at Cynthia with a gloomy expression.
A threat. She hated being threatened more than anything. It seemed this God Race member would definitely become a stumbling block on the witches’ path to controlling the Sitatul Continent.
After the unpleasant parting with the witches, Chloe led the God Race to settle the humans who had been frightened by the Anderson family, while Cynthia went to Selpa City alone.
The Vampires in Selpa City had long since been cleared out. Werewolves could be seen sunbathing everywhere on the wide streets. On the highest castle in the city center, Olivia, Helen, and Joanna stood at the top, discussing something.
Upon entering the city, Cynthia’s eyes lifted slightly and caught sight of Olivia. The distance was too great for her to see Olivia’s expression, but the sight of that pale green figure slowly calmed her heart.
This continent had darkness as well as beauty. She could understand why Eunice practiced Dark Magic to survive, but she shouldn’t have assumed all the witches of the Anderson family were like Eunice.
Cynthia sighed softly. Judging from the reactions of the Garcia and Morgan families just now, their alliance with the witches was likely over.
Olivia had noticed Cynthia the moment she entered Selpa City. She glanced over without drawing attention. Seeing Cynthia standing motionless at the city gate after entering, her brow furrowed unconsciously.
Both Helen and Joanna noticed Olivia’s distraction. Joanna tactfully ended the conversation, glanced in Cynthia’s direction, made a random excuse, and left with Helen.
Olivia watched their departing figures, lowered her eyes in thought for a moment, and a whirlwind swept her away from the spot.
The whirlwind blew through Cynthia’s long silver hair, simultaneously breaking her train of thought. She looked up slightly. When she saw Olivia, a smile naturally colored her golden eyes, and her tone softened. “I was just about to look for you.”
Olivia looked her up and down, ruthlessly exposing her lie. “You’ve been standing here in a daze.”
Cynthia chuckled, defending herself, “The castle is so high, and there are no stairs. I had to think about how to get up.”
“Not worrying about the witches?”
“There’s nothing to worry about with the witches.” Cynthia raised a hand to tidy her wind-tousled hair, her tone calm. “The God Race cannot tolerate the Anderson family. The Garcia and Morgan families won’t abandon the Anderson family. The result is already obvious.”
The bond between the three witch families was not so easily broken.
“Practicing the Power of Darkness isn’t the only path for the witches,” Olivia said faintly. “And practicing it doesn’t necessarily mean one’s mind will be corrupted.”
Ultimately, it was simply that the Anderson witches had wicked intentions.
Cynthia glanced in a certain direction, sighed inwardly, and said in a low voice, “The witches are not weak. If used well, Witchcraft and formations are no weaker in attack power than Dark Magic.”
Witchcraft and formations had been passed down for thousands of years, but unfortunately, fewer and fewer witches were willing to study them seriously.
Cynthia didn’t think the witches were weak, but the witches themselves always seemed to lack confidence.
Separated from Cynthia and Olivia by a single wall, Chelsea leaned against the cold, hard surface, clutching three unadorned staves as she quietly listened to their conversation.
The witches are not weak, and Witchcraft can be very strong. Is that true?
Then why did the Anderson family choose to practice Dark Magic?
Why are my own kin also considering abandoning Witchcraft…
Chelsea felt a little lost. She leaned against the wall in a daze for a while, then looked down at the staves in her arms. After some thought, she ultimately decided not to enter the city and turned to leave instead.
Hearing the footsteps gradually fade away, Cynthia finally looked up at Olivia and said softly, “Her Majesty the Queen has just comforted a lost young girl.”
Olivia averted her gaze, her voice cool. “I was just stating the facts.”
“Her Majesty the Queen is so kind.”
Olivia: “…”
“And gentle and considerate.” Cynthia seemed not to see Olivia’s darkening expression as she smiled and continued her praise. “Beautiful and powerful, the most wonderful existence on this continent…”
“Shut up.” Olivia glared at Cynthia, a faint blush creeping up the side of her face, whether from anger or some other reason.
Cynthia looked at Olivia’s face, made even more radiant by her annoyance, and her red lips curved into a beautiful arc. Seeing Olivia glaring at her, she promptly changed the subject. “By the way, have the Sethite wizards been found?”
Avira had said that Talia sent Sethite wizards to help Iman, but they hadn’t seen any of them when they dealt with Iman and the other Vampires.
Seeing her start to discuss serious matters, Olivia’s earlier embarrassment slowly dissipated, though at the same time, she felt a strange sense of disappointment. She pushed the odd feeling aside and said with a frown, “No.”
“The Wolf Race searched all of Pegeli Forest but couldn’t find these witches.”
She had even specifically asked Polly to question Avira, but Avira only knew that the Sethite wizards were coming to meet Iman; she had no idea where they were now.
