Hanni was now waiting in the woods near the very city that Chelsea and the others couldn’t find, anticipating their arrival.
The city Chelsea’s group was meant to attack was the farthest in Ochester, almost at the border. Hanni knew the witches didn’t want to see her, so she had simply gone ahead to wait for them. But her wait stretched into the night.
As night fell, a bright, round moon quietly hung among the branches. Its pristine light spilled over Hanni, making her feel somewhat agitated. She sat on a tree branch, holding a handful of flowers and herbs, sniffing them endlessly.
The fragrance of the plants was cloyingly sweet, but Hanni loved it. Every time she smelled it, she couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile.
This plant was called Silla Grass, and it helped newly adult werewolves get through the full moon night safely. Its scent could soothe the nearly uncontrollable agitation that came with their first transformation under the full moon.
A werewolf only risked losing control during their first transformation. Once that first full moon night passed, they no longer needed the plant’s calming effect.
Of course, even though it wasn’t necessary, many werewolves still habitually kept a large amount of Silla Grass in their Space Gems, taking it out for a sniff when the full moon arrived. Hanni was clearly one of them.
Besides granting the Wolf Race peak strength and heightened spirits, the full moon also brought a small trouble-for instance, their heat.
The gods had bestowed upon werewolves the strength and speed of beasts, and at the same time, allowed them to retain their bestial habits.
However, werewolves were, after all, an intelligent race, different from wild beasts. They had devised countless methods to suppress their heat.
So for Hanni, this small trouble could be solved by eating one or two fruits.
The scent of the Silla Grass effectively soothed Hanni’s emotions. She raised an arm to rub her feverish forehead. The biting night wind felt comfortable against her skin. She leaned against the tree trunk, thinking about Chelsea and the others who had yet to arrive, while taking an ice-blue fruit out of her Space Gem.
The fruit was small and rather inconspicuous. Bored, Hanni tossed it into the air and opened her mouth to catch it.
But this time, she failed to catch the fruit she could normally catch with her eyes closed. A sudden gust of night wind swept it away, and it fell to the ground below the tree.
Hanni paused, glancing down. Just as she was about to take out another one, a fair hand suddenly appeared in her field of vision. The hand picked up the fruit and vanished among the dense layers of leaves.
Hanni tilted her head, peering through the branches at the woman in the red dress below. She found the figure surprisingly familiar. After a moment of careful recollection, her eyes lit up, and she called out happily, “Avira, is that you?”
Avira, who was examining the fruit, raised an eyebrow in surprise at Hanni’s enthusiastic call. This wolf still didn’t know her identity? She rubbed the fruit in her hand. Hearing the sound of someone landing behind her, she closed her eyes for a moment. When she opened them again, her red eyes had turned brown.
At the same time, she once again concealed the vampire aura she had been suppressing.
Although a werewolf’s sense of smell was extremely sharp on a full moon night, Avira was far more powerful than Hanni. All Hanni could smell on her, besides a human scent, was a very sweet fragrance.
“Avira, you’re still alive.” Hanni ran up to Avira, her face filled with the joy of meeting a friend. “I couldn’t find you at the Ice Lake last time. I thought you were dead.”
After waking up from the perilous encounter at the Ice Lake and not finding Avira, Hanni had mourned the unfortunate demise of her new friend for several days.
She looked Avira up and down. Seeing her dressed in lavish clothes, her face pale but showing none of the dishevelment of a fugitive, the joy on Hanni’s face faltered. She asked, “How did you end up here?”
Though naive and kind, she wasn’t so dense that she couldn’t tell something was amiss.
“I was captured by the Vampires and brought here.” Avira put on a deeply sorrowful expression, on the verge of tears. “They… they drank my blood, and…”
She raised a hand to wipe away the tears at the corner of her eye.
Seeing her thinly dressed, Hanni instinctively moved closer to shield her from the cold wind, but she was still puzzled by her words. “The Vampires didn’t lock you up?”
This silly wolf wasn’t so easy to fool anymore. Avira lifted a hand to brush back her hair. Just as she was about to spin a few more lies to get by, Hanni suddenly moved closer, sniffing at the side of her neck.
“You smell so good.” The scent from Avira’s body made Hanni’s heart suddenly race. Her face grew hot, and she murmured in a low voice, “Why does it smell just like Silla Grass?”
Silla Grass was actually a very special plant; it was only effective on werewolves. Each werewolf perceived its scent differently, and that scent was always one that could soothe them.
Hanni’s breath was hot. As it washed over the side of Avira’s neck, a strange feeling rose within her. She toyed with the fruit in her hand for a moment, then glanced up at the full moon. A thought occurred to her, and her red lips curved slightly.
“Does it smell good?” Avira took Hanni’s hand and placed it on her own waist, saying with a smile, “Then come a little closer and smell.”
Avira leaned her entire body into Hanni’s embrace. Hanni froze for a moment, her face suddenly flushing bright red. “You… you can’t be this close to me.”
The elders of her clan had told them when they were just pups to stay away from the human race during their heat on a full moon night.
Because humans were too weak, they might accidentally hurt them.
Hanni grabbed Avira’s arm to pull her away, then turned and ran a few steps, beginning to rummage through her Space Gem for the suppression fruit.
The strength of the Wolf Race was immense. Avira glanced down at her arm, which ached from being grabbed. Her eyes darkened, and her smile suddenly took on a seductive edge.
With a werewolf… the thought was actually quite interesting.
Just as Hanni finally found a fruit and was about to eat it, a hand suddenly reached out and snatched it away. Hanni frowned and turned to get it back from Avira, but before she could speak, she was pushed to the ground by a red figure.
Avira knelt on Hanni’s waist, reached out to lift her chin, and studied her for a few moments. She said softly, “Looking at you like this, you’re actually quite good-looking.”
Hanni’s features were actually very striking, but her eyes were so pure that they made her look somewhat immature.
Her throat felt a little dry, making Hanni swallow involuntarily. She stared at the fruit in Avira’s hand, licked her lips, and said angrily, “Give me the fruit.”
Avira let out a low laugh. “I’m right here. What do you need a fruit for?” She tossed the fruit aside, then grabbed Hanni’s collar and leaned in close to her lips, enticing her. “Let me help you.”
The sudden kiss left Hanni completely stunned. She pushed against Avira’s shoulders, stammering, “You… how could you… kiss me?”
Avira’s scent threw Hanni’s thoughts into chaos. She wanted to get closer, but she felt that something was wrong.
“What a naive thing to say.” Avira’s eyes curved as she smiled. She licked Hanni’s lips and said seductively, “I’m not just going to kiss you. I’m going to teach you a few other things.”
“Teach you how to please me.”
As Avira spoke, she took Hanni’s hand. While looking at her with a burning gaze, she kissed her fingertips. Her gentle voice carried a commanding tone. “Retract your nails.”
Hanni was mesmerized by her gaze. The hand being kissed couldn’t help but curl, and her nails retracted involuntarily. Her attention was completely captivated by Avira, and she failed to notice that this person had managed to restrain her with just one hand.
The three siege teams returned to the Slade Sea Region one after another. Only the werewolves sent to find Hanni had not come back. When Cynthia learned that Hanni was missing, she wanted to go search for her personally but was stopped by Joanna.
“Don’t worry about Hanni. Tonight is the full moon, and her strength is at its peak. Even if she runs into a third-generation vampire, she has the ability to escape.” Joanna pointed to the moon above and said with a smile, “She’s probably hiding somewhere eating her suppression fruit right now.”
Seeing how confident Joanna was about Hanni, Cynthia dropped the subject of searching for her. She looked around and noticed that Joanna was the only werewolf present. She raised an eyebrow and asked, “Isn’t the vice clan leader going to rest?”
Cynthia had just brought Chloe and the others back and hadn’t even taken off her cloak. She noticed Joanna’s gaze kept following the God Race members. Her eyes narrowed, and she asked nonchalantly, “What is it?”
Joanna withdrew her gaze and smiled at Cynthia. “It’s nothing. I’m just a little surprised by the God Race’s development.”
Joanna only knew that the God Race was practicing Light Magic, but she hadn’t expected them to have so many knight orders.
Besides the knight orders, those humans who didn’t have silver hair and golden eyes but still radiated an aura of light were also a source of surprise for her.
The God Race had actually united with the humans-that weak race, useless for anything but procreation.
It was truly incredible. Joanna turned her head to look at the God Race’s ranks again, her eyes deep and profound.
“The God Race has grown stronger. Now there’s one more force to fight alongside the Wolf Race against the Vampires. Shouldn’t the vice clan leader be happy?” Cynthia looked at Joanna with a smile. Her slightly sharp words were softened by her gentle tone.
Joanna didn’t seem displeased by Cynthia’s words. She nodded naturally and smiled. “Of course, I’m happy.”
As they were speaking, the Anderson witches, dressed in red robes, appeared in Manden City in a great procession. Although the Anderson Family had always disdained things like magic arrays, they had no qualms about using Teleportation Arrays.
The moment the Anderson witches appeared, the temperature in the city seemed to drop by several degrees. The God Race members were more familiar with the Garcia and Morgan families. Seeing the Andersons arrive, they exchanged glances, unsure whether to greet these witches.
In contrast to the God Race’s hesitation, the Anderson witches ignored them without a second thought. They swaggered across the plaza and headed towards the lodgings the God Race had arranged for the witches.
The Anderson witches all liked to wear red robes, a very vibrant red. Doris stood by the roadside, watching them pass by. The swaths of red suddenly stung her eyes.
She raised a hand to cover her eyes as a series of images appeared in her mind without warning, causing her face to turn pale instantly.
The person beside her swayed unsteadily. Chloe reached out to support Doris and asked with concern, “What’s wrong with you?”
“Blood… corpses…” Doris’s voice was strained, as if she had seen a terrifying vision. “I saw… a sea of blood.”
And the savage smiles on the faces of these witches.
