Liu Zhaoran came back exactly thirty minutes later. Curious as she was about the components of the fluid she had extracted, she wasn’t about to leave the woman here and go off to study it on her own. What was more, there were still other parts that had not been examined.

The room was still very quiet. Song Nanyin had found a bathrobe from somewhere and draped it over herself. Her eyes were still tinged with red, and when she saw Liu Zhaoran come in, she glared at her, yet there was not the slightest menace in it. Liu Zhaoran mentally dubbed her a baby lion with its fur all puffed up.

“Get up. I’ll take you to have the rest examined.” Liu Zhaoran said nothing more and showed none of the embarrassment of someone who had just done what she had. Setting aside both their identities and genders, what she had just done was a serious transgression.

Every time she thought of Liu Zhaoran grabbing her “part” and… and… doing that to her, Song Nanyin was so mortified that she could hardly face this woman again. Liu Zhaoran, by contrast, remained perfectly calm and composed, as if nothing had happened at all. Only she herself was bothered.

Truly… hateful beyond words.

The two walked one after the other into another room. Song Nanyin found the temperature there a little higher than in the previous one. The instruments were already on. Liu Zhaoran turned, tilted her chin toward the bed, and gestured for Song Nanyin to lie down.

“What are these?” Song Nanyin was normally in good health; apart from routine physical examinations, she had hardly ever been sick. She glanced at the instrument Liu Zhaoran was fiddling with and asked curiously. Liu Zhaoran shot her a look, as if surprised she didn’t even know that.

Then again, it made sense. Liu Zhaoran’s instruments were all imported from abroad, far more advanced than anything domestic and novel in design. It was only reasonable that Song Nanyin didn’t recognize them.

“It’s an ultrasound machine. I need to check whether your uterus has started to regress, and your vagina needs to be examined as well.” Liu Zhaoran said this casually, and Song Nanyin felt a little awkward. She didn’t know whether it was her own issue, or whether everyone who had studied medicine was this composed…

“Oh… then be sure to check it thoroughly.” Song Nanyin was still very afraid of her female organs showing signs of regression. If that happened, wouldn’t she really turn into a man? At the thought, she felt panic and a chill of revulsion. She obediently lay down on the bed and exposed her fair, tender belly.

Liu Zhaoran gave her a casual once-over and found that Song Nanyin did have a good figure: a flat stomach without an ounce of flab, a lovely curve at the waist, and a round, shallow navel. She took out the ultrasound device and moved it across her lower belly.

“Your uterus is fine; its function is normal. But your cervical opening seems to show signs of contraction. I’ll need to take a closer look at that during the vaginal examination.” Soon after, Liu Zhaoran set the ultrasound device aside and picked up another instrument.

Seeing Liu Zhaoran put on her gloves and move to part her legs, Song Nanyin was so startled that she clamped her legs shut at once and sat bolt upright in bed.

“Hey, what are you doing…” Song Nanyin looked at Liu Zhaoran suspiciously. She knew the other woman was a straight woman and should have no interest in women. But from the very beginning up to now, Liu Zhaoran had done too many strange things, and Song Nanyin couldn’t help growing suspicious.

She was no good at hiding her feelings; almost everything on her mind was written across her face. Liu Zhaoran looked at the expression on Song Nanyin’s face, one that clearly said ‘Don’t touch me, I’m a straight woman,’ and found it a little foolish and a little overconfident.

Liu Zhaoran had no aversion to the female body. To her, the two basic sexes, male and female, were not separated by much of a line. Liu Zhaoran liked clever people. Man or woman, her first choice was always someone of equal caliber. Someone as foolish as Song Nanyin, she sensed, would be exhausting to date. But as a target for teasing, Song Nanyin was very entertaining.

Liu Zhaoran admitted she was nasty at heart. She simply loved seeing Song Nanyin flustered and at a loss under her hands, her fur puffed up in fury, wanting to get angry yet completely helpless against her.

“To check your vaginal function.” Liu Zhaoran explained casually. Hearing this, Song Nanyin looked thoughtfully at Liu Zhaoran’s hands. Those hands were very clean, with no nails kept long, trimmed tidy and neat.

Song Nanyin looked at those hands, then at her own freshly done manicure. She couldn’t help feeling… wasn’t there something off about Liu Zhaoran? What woman wouldn’t like getting her nails done?

“Hey, Black-Hearted Lotus, you don’t… you don’t like women, do you?” Song Nanyin asked in a small voice, letting slip the nickname she used for Liu Zhaoran in her heart. As soon as the words left her mouth, she knew she had misspoken. She glanced at Liu Zhaoran and saw the other woman looking back at her with a half-smile.

Honestly, before meeting Liu Zhaoran, Song Nanyin hadn’t believed you could tell whether a person was clever from their face. But now she felt that Liu Zhaoran simply looked like someone extremely shrewd and intelligent.

She stood there, in white with black hair, tall and graceful, her phoenix eyes carrying a smile full of meaning, the slight arch of her brows seeming to mock her. When she raised a brow, that feeling only grew stronger.

“Miss Song, even if I did like women, you absolutely wouldn’t be the type I’d go for. You can rest easy.”

With that, Liu Zhaoran turned, put on her gloves, took out a long, slender instrument, and came over. The instrument was very thin, about as thick as a pen barrel, with a white light glowing at its front end, connected to another large machine.

“Then… fine.” Since it had come to this, Song Nanyin could hardly keep being coy. But the thought of spreading her legs in front of the Black-Hearted Lotus she hated, showing her the most private part of herself, made Song Nanyin feel utterly ashamed and embarrassed.

In her view, the “part” Liu Zhaoran had grabbed just now was never something that should have belonged to her. It was like a fleshy lump that had suddenly grown on her body, something she felt would be removed sooner or later. So naturally, having Liu Zhaoran touch it hadn’t bothered her much.

But this was different. This was her real, genuine “little sister,” a part of her body that had been with her for twenty-eight years. Knowing such a private place was about to be seen by Liu Zhaoran, and might even be touched by her, made Song Nanyin intensely uneasy.

“Team Leader Song, it’s already late. I hope you won’t waste our time.” Seeing Song Nanyin still sitting there motionless, Liu Zhaoran urged her again. Song Nanyin steeled herself, simply turned her head away, shut her eyes, and spread her legs.

Her coy reluctance struck Liu Zhaoran as amusing. After all, in Liu Zhaoran’s eyes, Song Nanyin was at this moment nothing more than a prop for research and amusement; she truly had no superfluous interest in her.

Before her were the woman’s slightly parted legs. Looking at the structure of Song Nanyin’s most private place, Liu Zhaoran could finally let out the excitement she had kept hidden in the depths of her heart for so long.

The penis-like thing Song Nanyin had grown was indeed evolved from the female clitoris. It could be said to be simply an enlarged version of the clitoris itself.

After the clitoris had developed, the labia and vagina had become relatively smaller. What was subtle, though, was that neither had lost its proper function; they could even secrete fluid. The only unknown was whether, upon penetration, she could still achieve orgasm through the soft tissue inside the vagina.

At this point, Liu Zhaoran could be completely certain that Song Nanyin’s change was not a mutation, but differentiation.

Liu Zhaoran had thought she would never use that word again. Eighteen years had passed, and she had gradually grown accustomed to this world. She had never imagined she would unexpectedly encounter someone of the same kind as herself.

Traveling between worlds was something that often appeared in movies and TV dramas. Before coming to this strange world at the age of ten, Liu Zhaoran had never imagined that such a bizarre thing would happen to her.

Her original world was called Xingqiu. There, humans were not divided simply into male and female, but had six entirely different sexes.

Everything there was more advanced and developed than here. There, Liu Zhaoran had two mothers who doted on her, and she had been identified at birth as a Class S omega of the highest rank.

She should have had an affluent life and status, richer choices, and a fuller life. Yet, for no reason at all, she had come to this backward world and become someone fallen on hard times.

For nearly eighteen years, Liu Zhaoran had long since given up on finding a way back. But she never expected that Song Nanyin would suddenly differentiate into an Alpha, a type of human unique to her world.

Liu Zhaoran was quite certain that before this, Song Nanyin had been a genuine Earthling. Even if the scent about her was unusual, she was definitely not someone from Liu Zhaoran’s world. And so the problem lay right here.

What exactly had prompted Song Nanyin to suddenly differentiate into an Alpha?

Song Nanyin had many suspicious points about her, but this wondrous change of hers was what most deserved study. Liu Zhaoran suddenly felt that things were becoming more and more interesting, and that she was more and more reluctant to part with Song Nanyin, this precious little white mouse.

“Are… are you done yet?” Feeling Liu Zhaoran’s hand still fiddling with her labia, Song Nanyin felt mortified. With her eyes shut, her hearing had become extremely sharp. She could even hear the wet sound produced by the glove rubbing against her mucous membrane as Liu Zhaoran worked at her labia, and it was… terribly embarrassing.

“I’ll show you the examination report later.” Without answering Song Nanyin’s question, Liu Zhaoran simply dropped that line, turned around, and left.

That air of complete indifference toward her made Song Nanyin furious. In the end, she could only mutter “How rude” indignantly, get up in a huff, and leave the examination room.

On ordinary days, Song Nanyin would be in bed by ten without fail. Tonight, things had already dragged on until eleven, and her body clock was reminding her that she should rest. But Liu Zhaoran still hadn’t come downstairs, and no examination report had arrived. There was no way Song Nanyin could just leave, so she put her clothes on and sat in the living room, waiting around.

Nearly another hour passed. At eight minutes past midnight, Liu Zhaoran finally came downstairs holding the examination report. Compared with herself, who was already drowsy, this Black-Hearted Lotus was frighteningly energetic.

She casually took off her glasses and undid the tie at the end of her hair, letting a head of long, jet-black hair spill loose. How to put it… she did look rather nice, but Song Nanyin was still annoyed at this woman for making her wait so long.

“Are the results out? There’s nothing wrong with my body, is there?” Seeing Liu Zhaoran come down, Song Nanyin asked hurriedly. Seeing her anxiety, Liu Zhaoran handed her the examination report and stated the results simply.

“Basically, there’s nothing wrong. It’s just that we were in a rush today, so I didn’t have time for a full-body examination. I suggest you stay here for the next few days and let me examine you every day. Also, when was your last period?”

“Just a few days ago. But it was very light, and it was over in two days. It didn’t seem like a normal amount.” Mentioning this, Song Nanyin immediately turned gloomy. A woman without her period aged easily. If hers really disappeared, wouldn’t she turn ugly?

“I made some midnight snacks. Eat some, then go to sleep.” Liu Zhaoran was absorbed in her own thoughts and didn’t notice Song Nanyin’s expression, which suggested the sky was about to come crashing down. When she finished speaking, she got up, went to the kitchen, and brought out the tangyuan she had just made.

The tangyuan skins were very thin, and they tasted different from what you got outside, as if handmade. Captivated by the tangyuan, Song Nanyin felt some of her anxiety ease. Seeing her confusion, Liu Zhaoran nodded.

“When I was abroad, the varieties of tangyuan were few, so I learned to make some then. They taste pretty good.” Liu Zhaoran said casually. Song Nanyin gave an “oh” and ate all the tangyuan, which could be taken as tacitly accepting Liu Zhaoran’s earlier suggestion that she stay for a while.

Since her body had begun to change, Song Nanyin hadn’t eaten or slept well, and had spent every day in fear and trembling. It was only when she saw the examination report Liu Zhaoran had given her that the stone suspended over her heart finally came down.

If she had a choice, she naturally wouldn’t want to stay at Liu Zhaoran’s place. But the other woman had said examinations would be needed every day from now on, and she truly couldn’t find any other doctor. Nor could she confide such a thing to anyone else. After thinking it over, her only option was to ask Liu Zhaoran for help. After all, Liu Zhaoran had already discovered her secret.

Granted, the woman was scheming and black-hearted, and the two of them seemed to be at odds with each other. But… urgent times called for bending the rules. In Song Nanyin’s view, for the sake of her body, she could endure Liu Zhaoran a little. She would just treat it as using her.

At the thought of using the scheming White Lotus, Song Nanyin curved her lips in a silly grin. Every expression on her face was clearly visible to Liu Zhaoran, who sat across from her. Liu Zhaoran lowered her head and gently poked the tangyuan in her bowl. With a soft plop, the tender white skin gave way, and the filling inside flowed out.

As it happened, two were left in her own bowl, one sesame and one milk.

One black, one white. White was always so easily devoured by black.

“The room at the very end is yours. The sheets and quilt inside are all new. Please put them on yourself. I’m going to rest now.” With that, Liu Zhaoran paid Song Nanyin no further attention and turned to leave. Her attitude was cold enough, and of course Song Nanyin hadn’t expected her to help make the bed.

Just as Song Nanyin walked in and was about to close the door, Liu Zhaoran suddenly rushed back to add one more line.

“I suggest you don’t lock the door.”

“Why?”

Hearing this, Song Nanyin frowned. Of course she wouldn’t lock the door in her own home, but this was the Black-Hearted Lotus’s home. How could she guarantee the other woman wouldn’t do something to her? Not locking the door was far too insecure.

“Your body’s condition is unstable right now, and new developments could appear at any moment. If something goes wrong with you, you wouldn’t want me to have to find a locksmith to come and open the door before dealing with your problem, would you?”

Liu Zhaoran said this with such righteous confidence that Song Nanyin could find no grounds to argue. She thought it over and could only agree…

Fine, then I won’t lock it. They were both women after all. Whatever Liu Zhaoran had, she had too, and whatever Liu Zhaoran didn’t have, she also had.
